Good to see you again!

Here are is what we’ve got for you this week:

🧠 The Real Way to Get a Referral (Without Making It Weird)

Most students go about referrals the wrong way:

Cold DMs asking “Can you refer me?”
Coffee chats that turn into awkward pitches

These don’t build trust — they create pressure.

Here’s what does work:

Step 1: Start with a thoughtful cold message
Make it specific and easy to respond to.
“I saw you transitioned from finance to tech — what helped you make that leap?”

Step 2: Make the first call about them
Ask about their role, their team, their journey.
People remember those who made them feel heard.

Step 3: Act on their advice, then follow up
Build something. Try their suggestion.
Reach back out to share what you did — it shows initiative and interest.

Step 4: If needed, ask directly (without pressure)

“Would you feel comfortable referring me for [role]? Totally okay if not — just wanted to ask.”

The best referrals don’t come from asking.

They come from showing up, listening, and taking action.
